Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

Business Continuity

Every organisation requires a carefully considered and strategic business continuity and disaster recovery plan in place to ensure they can continue to operate their business critical functions in the event of an unplanned outage.

Connection outages do not always stem from what you might expect.  The most common causes of connection outages stem from events such as power cuts, computer virus attacks and server failures.  Other less common events include floods, local BT exchange failures and fire.

All of the risks, no matter how small, require a strategic, effective and well planned disaster recovery strategy to be produced and implemented.  It is vital for organisations to ensure that this is not only carefully implemented, but should also be regularly updated, modified, improved and tested.

The Firstnet Solutions approach to disaster recover

Our approach to preparing, developing and implementing an effective and robust business continuity and disaster recovery plan, is to consider the following:

1. DR Consultancy

Firstnet Solutions will work with you to implement and manage your organisations' disaster recovery service level agreements to ensure they are executed correctly when required and also to ensure that they fit into your overall business model.

We also undertake a GAP analysis of your entire SLA infrastructure to determine whether they are tested, fully compliant and supported with appropriate penalties (financial or otherwise), rights, obligations and indemnities to meet your business needs

2. Service Level Agreements to meet your business requirements

Firstnet Solutions will:

  • manage the SLA’s to ensure they fit your business;
  • undertake a GAP analysis of all the SLAs across your infrastructure to ensure that they are tested and aligned in case of a savvier failure;
  • ensure that there are stringent penalties and obligations in failing the SLA.
  • Regular Disaster Recovery testing / Reviews

Having a Disaster Recovery plan in place is one thing, testing it is another.  Most organisations fail to test the disaster recovery strategy it has in place in over 12 months.

We carry out frequent testing on our customer’s network(s) to ensure that the disaster recovery plan is effective, robust and remains up to date.

3. Disaster Recovery Design

Our consultants will ensure the technical design of your disaster recovery reflects your entire business, so as to include your key applications (such as phone systems, ISDN and PSTN lines).

It’s often the data centre and network which require the most work and monitoring, however, as all areas of your business will at all times need to retain open lines of communication, our team create a detailed and well architected plan to ensure that your IT infrastructure is included.
